Historical Tracks of Major Gulf Coast Hurricanes

With Katrina and Ida's anniversary passing recently I went down a rabbit hole of landing sites for Major Hurricanes in the Gulf.

mostly was curious about landing spots, because they all sure seem to hit in close proximity to previous landings (my hometown seems to be a favorite target).
So I started in Corpus and worked my way eastward to Cape Coral area of Florida to see how many Cat 3 or higher has landed/passed within 45 miles of a town.

Results from least to most in next several posts

Tied for 7th pace:

Tampa - Technically 6. But one of those 6 came from the Atlantic coast, once came from southern Florida and passed within the threshold to their East, and one came down from northern Florida. So really only 3 came in from Gulf to them.

Houston - Also 6.
Amazing how close to same damn spot 5 of the 6 have hit

Up next:

Destin, FL - 7
a little more spread out, but 5 of the 7 damn near criss-cross at one point just off coast

in 4th place:

Biloxi - 9
Kinda scattered across coast of LandMass, but 2 pretty well known ones came in at similar locations

Tied for 3rd place are opposite sides of Guls from each other

Cape Coral, FL - 10
but similar to Tampa, 4 of them came in from East or South and spent significant time over land before hitting them

Corpus Christi, TX also 10
really spread out, nothing really catches the eye about.
