Good update guys! Congrats to Nootch on the grand daughter! The portal activity was like a whirlwind, but it looks like we came out real well. Moss don't grow on that rollin stone (Lane)!
@houtiger , 'whirlwind' is a good description. I was trying to keep up with the additions and subtractions as soon as I saw the confirming reports. There were more than a few days where I posted an update and literally 15 minutes later another player became a Tiger.
Recruiting class rankings really no longer matter all that much. Schools might retain 10% of their recruiting class after 2 years if they are lucky. As we see with LSU, many very good high school players don't pan out at the college level as advertised, some get into legal or academic trouble and are ineligible, but many feel they deserve to be a starter and if they are in a backup role where they are they seek greener pastures elsewhere.
The portal allows schools to fill needs with players that have proven productivity at the college level rather than signing players with potential.
The money might need to be normalized and perhaps regulated to some extent by the conferences or the NCAA.
At any rate - in this new era - (and to quote 'The History of the World, Part 1') "It's good to be the king!"
