I don't hate many things in life, wet socks, most liberals, olives and the dumbest penalty ever introduced to the game of football.

I know there is probably no way to get the answer to this but I wish there were a way to find out how many "helmet to helmet" contact plays happened in say just the three years prior to it being a penalty! Wasn't the penalty and the disqualification supposed to act as a deterrent? I'd bet money that whatever that number was has not come down at all! I would think that these idiot refs not being able to recognize that men playing football will bump heads now and then! Intent and malice has to count for something!

I think some of the targeting rule is good for protecting players from injury like concussions.

I agree with BK that when you have a runner and the runner brings his head down, the tackler has to bring his head down and that collision should not be targeting.

Some have mentioned that there should be flagrant targeting and incidental targeting, where the flagrant has the current penalty, but incidental is just a 15 yard penalty and keep playing.

Should be addressed at the end of the year.

the hits that rule is trying to eliminate has definitely gone down in number.
you don't see the "headhunters" any more like you once did.

but like Fish and I discussed in the last Podcast, there should be Tiers to this penalty.
helmets just happen to collide could still be a 15 yarder, but not carry an ejection/suspension. May if you get multiple in a game, then the ejection/suspension.
launch your self brutally into the skull of an opponent? ok, now you're gone.
