Wade Rousse named President of LSU

So the Govenor said we arent stealing a coach from a Louisiana team but we steal a president? Not that I have a problem with it just commenting on his stupidity

that's about as Louisiana as it comes.
remember Alleva said "we're not getting into a bidding war with Texas for a coach"
then less than a month later got into a bidding war with Texas over an assistant coach

Jeff Landry should be thrown out of Louisiana, like physically.

He should be removed from office.

He has pulled off a coup but at the expense of THE state institution and in fact at the expense of the reputation of the state.

Firing Kelly, so be it.
Firing Scott? I can get on board with it done properly.

Also he ran Tate off and that was a mistake imo.

But the shit show that accompanied all these moves, the public embarrassment you've made of the state and LSU, the clear meddling and the absolute comedy of errors just won't stop!

I see no way LSU recovers from this quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kim Mulkey retire.
How uncomfortable is Jay right now?

Tell me I'm wrong.

I don't disagree, but the real culprit is the shit show constitution for the State of Louisiana that Edwin Edwards spearheaded in about 1972. As long as the state constitution concentrates the majority of the power in the hands of the Governor (regardless of who is in office), then you will continue to see corruption at all levels of government in the state, meddling, and the cringe worthy public displays of ineptitude that Louisiana is known for.

There are few checks and balances and every state office is awarded by patronage (or kickbacks) to and from the governor.

Oh...and ditch the Napoleonic code as the basis of the legal system in the state. Go with what the other 49 states use.

(Rant over from one of the 'best and brightest' that fled the state decades ago like so many before and after me.)

yep.
this is all old school Louisiana Politics rearing it's ugly head again.

with what you mentioned above, plus the Rousse/Verger flip-flopping shitshow going on, why would any big time coach want to come here and deal with this?

it goes back waaaaaaay farther than that.
like at least 100 years farther back than that.

hell this shit was already well established before Huey took over and brought it to a new level.

The political tradition of corruption and illegal activity for sure goes WAY back.

Adopting a sensible state constitution with teeth would go a long way to constraining those behaviors, though.

that would require a lack of corruption.
which Louisiana has never had in it's existence dating back to being a colony owned by France, then Spain, then France again, etc.
