Game Topic: LSU VS Florida (2025)

Somewhat!

I'd call it nonexistent! Horrible! At least pathetic!

a very specific aspect of our running game is bad.
up the middle sucks.

edge runs have been successful most of the season.
and as Fish pointed out in the last podcast, we also do that jet sweep motion that "technically" goes onto stat sheet as a pass, but in reality is a running play. That has also been pretty successful.

but for multiple seasons now, we just cannot run between the tackles.
and that needs to me remedied somehow.

I'm hoping to find time to do some Film Study again like I have in the past to see if I can figure out the issue.

I'll save you a little time.

Weston Davis is a turnstile.

I think that's a problem with the passing game too.

Everyone goes straight to the OC, OL coach or HC, and quite frankly, that's fair.
But at least watch the game closely, even if you have to rewatch it, and unless you just don't know ball, you'll see several issues.

When receivers are running open early in routes, it's not the play calling.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes it is. But when you pick up 7 on first down and can't run twice to get a first, then have to punt on a 3 and out?? That's not play calling. That's shit blocking and running.

When you make it a point in the off-season to hire a “run game coordinator” that signals your recognition that you need help with the run. We haven’t had a running game with our RBs since 2019. We were terrible on third down conversions against FL. Can we make the CFP with a great D and below average O? Will our O finds its way eventually like our D did in 2019? Stay tuned sports fans!

We're terrible on 3rd down for the season, not just vs Florida.

We're literally 17 of 41 on the season. We were 4 out 14 vs Florida, so were already below 50%. It's a bad look.

My post wasn't to take the heat off, but to distribute it evenly, because it's more widespread than just OC.

We have Southeastern and then Ole Miss. Whatever you think of FU and Clemson, both are loaded on defense. Florida struggled a little defensively vs USF with the running QB, but otherwise, they're solid defensively. Probably two of the best 3 defenses we'll see this year.

Ole Miss is not. So I'd like to see what's up after Ole Miss.

Defense will win us lots of games. We just shut down Florida with the captain of the defense missing all but 3 plays.

And it wasn't just the defense that eventually found it's way in 2019. It was also the running game. Run game sucked in the first few games before other teams started having to drop everyone into coverage because our passing game was too much.

Problem is, our passing game isn't great. That's more concerning to me because I've seen Nuss throw for 4k yds and he didn't have the weapons he does now. I still maintain he may not be 100%. But one thing is we almost never TRY to go vertical with two top end speed guys that have been proven weapons.

If we could take the top off, I think you'd be surprised how well we can run.
That, and put Pyburn in at FB lol. He broke Caden free on that long run at the end.

I think Florida's defense has only given up 3 touchdowns this year. All other TD's scored against them were like pick 6's against their offense.

Actually only 2:

The inconsistency on offense has overshadowed what has been a solid defensive performance through three games. Florida has allowed only two touchdowns against its defense all season, but that has not been enough as the Gators offense looks to find better rhythm.
