When you make it a point in the off-season to hire a “run game coordinator” that signals your recognition that you need help with the run. We haven’t had a running game with our RBs since 2019. We were terrible on third down conversions against FL. Can we make the CFP with a great D and below average O? Will our O finds its way eventually like our D did in 2019? Stay tuned sports fans!
We're terrible on 3rd down for the season, not just vs Florida.
We're literally 17 of 41 on the season. We were 4 out 14 vs Florida, so were already below 50%. It's a bad look.
My post wasn't to take the heat off, but to distribute it evenly, because it's more widespread than just OC.
We have Southeastern and then Ole Miss. Whatever you think of FU and Clemson, both are loaded on defense. Florida struggled a little defensively vs USF with the running QB, but otherwise, they're solid defensively. Probably two of the best 3 defenses we'll see this year.
Ole Miss is not. So I'd like to see what's up after Ole Miss.
Defense will win us lots of games. We just shut down Florida with the captain of the defense missing all but 3 plays.
And it wasn't just the defense that eventually found it's way in 2019. It was also the running game. Run game sucked in the first few games before other teams started having to drop everyone into coverage because our passing game was too much.
Problem is, our passing game isn't great. That's more concerning to me because I've seen Nuss throw for 4k yds and he didn't have the weapons he does now. I still maintain he may not be 100%. But one thing is we almost never TRY to go vertical with two top end speed guys that have been proven weapons.
If we could take the top off, I think you'd be

how well we can run.
That, and put Pyburn in at FB lol. He broke Caden free on that long run at the end.
