Game Topic: LSU vs Texas A&M (10.25.25)

Listening to his presser, shortly after the 30 minute mark he refers to LSU as "they have a proud tradition...".

Shouldn't it be "we"?

If he hasn't taken ownership of the program, how does he expect his players to take ownership?
I noticed that too, and I’m a Notre Dame fan. Sounded all too familiar.

One thing I will say about Elko, he was the DC at aTm for three years before getting the head coach job at Duke. They knew Elko very well. I read at Texags now and then and while Jimbo was under performing, many said they wished Elko was the head coach. They were proven correct.
Not to mention that he was DC at Notre Dame under Kelly for a year before leaving for aTm.

Welcome Bob! As Hatcher said, we are a tight nit group. Our membership is down because Herb just created this new site and left a message on the old site to come over here. But there is a core group that has been together for nigh on to twenty years! We started on a big site and they got rules-crazy, so we made our own site until the owner went crazy, and then we ended up here under Herb's administration. We are, shall we say, a more mature site. Hang out and just talk football. We also talk baseball, women's basketball and gymnastics. Men's basketball, not so much for an obvious reason.

I will do my best not to interfere.
Just meant as HT's post stated, we've all known each other for a very long time. I've met many who post here fact to face. Not much drama.

As you may know, we won a natty in 2019 with HC Ed Orgeron. He then proceeded to mail it in and got himself fired. For me the Brian Kelly hire was out of left field. Nothing I expected. Not as a coach, but I didn't like him at Cincy and the way he left. Same for ND. But I supported him once he became our coach and tried to embrace him.

Wow. I usually hang out on on3’s Lou Somogyi board, their ND forum. I found you guys because someone on the LSU subreddit recommended you as a place for LSU grownup talk, and I wanted to commiserate a bit on the Brian Kelly situation. Having 11 years of experience with the emotional ups and downs that he engenders, I thought I might have a thing or two to share.

I’m sort of a Notre Dame fan by default. My father started teaching there in 1956, when I was two days old. He was still teaching there in 2014 when he died. It’s like the music you listened to when you were growing up: other gods music comes along, but that music always has the first place in your heart.

I really got into LSU when you won the NC with Ed Orgeron a few years ago. What a team! And what a character Ed was. Kind of reminds me of Bum Phillips. I loved the story of him being the first coach you’ve had who didn’t have a foreign accent. He was kind enough to visit our team in Marcus Freeman’s first year and give them a pep talk. So yes, I have fond feelings for LSU.

But Notre Dame will always be my first love. Ever since I was seven and my father came home and said we had a new coach named Ara Parseghian and I asked what kind of a name was that.

I hope y’all land on your feet going forward.

I can understand that. And to his credit, he improved on the mess that Charlie Weis left. I liked to point out that under Kelly, other fan bases changed from calling us “irrelevant” to calling us “overrated.” 🙂

But he never got us much beyond that before he packed up and left.

Well hi Herb. I was looking for a place where I could have a bit of “grownup talk” with some LSU fans, and this is exactly that. 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation.
pretty much all of us have been together since 3-4 sites ago.
we moved when that atmosphere became too toxic. and then have evolved through a couple other sites before Herb created this one.

Most of us are pretty reasonable.
We even have a Podcast where I carry Fish's dead weight around each week.

During football games we're all in the chatroom here. Hope you join us for some fun.
And we have possibly the most active college baseball forum around, so If you're a fan of the sport you'll enjoy that too
