I mean Verge just spent a year suspended due to title 9 violations.
Great look for LSU I guess.

Also the whole never having served as an AD anywhere. But hey, whatever.

I really don't know if this is "good"
there are several issues with this "hire"

1st, like fish said. the dude literally just came off a year long Title IX related suspension. He also had a rather public court case on that issue.

Next, the only thing I know for a fact that Verge was responsible for in his associate role was scheduling. Specifically OOC scheduling for football. And well, that's been a pretty big complaint from just about the entire fanbase. He for some reason refused to try to get a Week ) type game even when it became evident the team needed one before diving into a premier Power 4 opponent to open the season. Plus as season ticket prices continued to saor, all of the quality OOC games got moved to neutral sites.

and then ..

this part is probably the most concerning aspect of it all.

a new president is named and within a matter of a couple hours, he names his AD. without any sort of search or interview process?
that just absolutely screams political cronyism.

combine that with the way the governor had been talking for the previous week and at least optics wise, all we did was appoint a couple of "yes men" for Landry.
He got "his guy" as President.
and immediately a guy in house get's named AD.

looks like a pair of puppets were installed.

Now they concentrate on the most visible major hire.

and my confidence in getting this right plummets on a daily basis now.

I asked incoming #LSU President Wade Rousse on decision to name Verge Ausberry the permanent AD. “I'll remove the interim [title] and then we'll assess the situation. I can't make a very good decision after being on that on the job for eight hours…”

so wait, you can't make a decision in less than 8 hours but removed the Interim tag?
but you're going to assess the situation?
assess what? you removed the interim, he's permanent now.

um, they mean the same damn thing.
If he's just holding the position until a permanent guy is hired, then he's still the interim.
if you remove the interim, then he's fucking permanent and not just a placeholder.

Rousse said he doesn’t know very much about Ausberry’s involvement in the Title IX scandal.

I mean it was a national news story that I'd think you need to at the very least google before making a move with Verge.

“It was important for me to show stability,” Rousse said. “Verge has done a good job up until this point. I really need to dig deeper in terms of what we look like, to make sure we protect that global brand.”

so you're still looking into who you would want to be AD at LSU?
