The second alteration pertains to the transfer exceptions granted to players after coaching changes. The exception currently allows players to enter the transfer portal during a 30-day window that opens the day after their coach leaves or is fired. The committee approved a new format, however, that is shortened to 15 days and begins five days after a new coach is hired or announced, seemingly in an effort to crack down on midseason portal activity.

So, as I understand the new rule, a player has to wait until a University hires a new coach, the player then has to wait 5 more days (so the new coach can make a pitch to players), then they have 15 days to make a decision?

I agree with the rule below. The coaches pushed hard for it. Their life was insane if kids could transfer after spring practice. Then you were out there recruiting again for the fall.

Instead, there is now one transfer portal window. It will run from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16.
