I'm beginning to wonder how much of our problem is recruiting, signing the wrong kids. Clearly, without the portal, we would have been lacking on the o-line (we got a center and a guard out of the portal, they both start, and we're still not good). We're playing with a redshirt freshman at left tackle and he's being eaten by quick DE's. We have a true frosh at the other tackle (filling in for an injury), and he's getting eaten also. Where are out upperclassmen? Well 5* Lance Heard is starting his second season for Tenn. at left tackle, a junior. We could use him, but we let him get away. Much of the problem starts with the o-line. Nuss does not have time and if he does he is sailing the ball high.
Appears our problem is COACHING
Regarding the actual points you brought up, recruiting the wrong kids is an issue because Kelly has actually gotten on planes to go to places like UTAH to recruit 3* CBs when you can throw a rock and hit 3* CBs right there in BR. He has no clue how to recruit Louisiana.

Regarding the portal adds, we did TRY to get OT help through the portal, but failed to do so. To me, KNOWING you're losing Campbell and Jones, you canNOT fail to land a tackle in the portal. Instead we picked up more WRs than we can possibly use.

Regarding Lance Heard, he thought he was better than Will Campbell and left because he couldn't beat him out. He has been pretty shitty at Tennessee, considering how much they spent to get him out of the transfer portal. IMO the bigger problem is, why are our 5* OTs not worth a crap? COACHING. Again.

I caught the “they” reference too Herb. Last night was not good to say the least. Honestly I’m not sure I can point out a period this season where I felt that our offense was consistently good. BK is on the hot seat and I suspect some of the offensive staff will be gone regardless. I’m not sure where this team goes from here. At this point Arky isn’t a gimme. Does BK survive 7-5? 6-6? I’m going to see a former member of the LSU BOS this week. He’s still very connected to AD. Doubt he’d divulge anything but I’ll ask.

One thing I will say about Elko, he was the DC at aTm for three years before getting the head coach job at Duke. They knew Elko very well. I read at Texags now and then and while Jimbo was under performing, many said they wished Elko was the head coach. They were proven correct.
So instead of sticking with a running game that was yielding results (and keeping the ball away from A&M), let's put everything on Nussmeier's questionable decision making.

Agree, couldn't possibly list all the coaching blunders in one post so I left some for you.
did you see the replay of that Alabama TD where #1 for Carolina literally avoiding tackling the guy?
may have been only play i’ve seen with less effort than Perk on a long TD last nught
